These classes are offered as group instruction, for beginning and intermediate painters, where we can explore our creativity by improving our skills through the development of oil painting techniques and principles of color, design, and composition.

In each course of ten classes we emphasise a different painting technique as we continue exploring basic color theories. We also learn to apply and develop concepts of design and pictorial composition, as well as experiment with various painting styles and subjects. These are ongoing courses and we will build on these principles in future courses.

All classes are designed to accommodate the beginning to the intermediate painter, and can easily be joined by new students, with many reviews and an emphasis on learning and improving techniques - and developing your own individual voice and style as a painter and an artist.

The following students' paintings are used with their permission and are not for sale on this site. Any resemblance to other artists' work, living or dead, is purely coincidental. Students are encouraged to work from still-lifes, as well as to copy from photographs, and other paintings, in order to learn how to build a successful painting. The emphasis is always on developing and exploring a personal style as an artist, as well as improving techniques as a painter.

Steve has been painting with me for several sessions and is very enthusiastic about his work! He has a good eye for color and composition and woks fast and confidently.

Heidi is a relatively new student to this class and has shown much progress and much potential. She is eager to learn and explore new projects and is a quick-study.

Dave is a bold and creative painter. He is always trying new subjects and new materials and is not afraid to tackle a new challenge.

Adolf has an innate expressive style and a natural talent for creative composition. He is relatively new to painting, but shows great potential as an exceptional artist.

Earleen is an inspired and motivated painter and has shown a great deal of improvment. She is begining to really blossom as an artist as her skills as a painter improve.
